Self-care can slide when life gets crazy, especially during the busy holiday season. Some reminders to keep during this hectic time of year to ensure you are still giving yourself the care you need. Schedule down time for yourself. – Add some “me” time to your calendar to make sure you are getting the time you need to recharge. Set aside time to journal or to take a hot bath to unwind from a busy day. Balance your diet. – The sugary sweets are all around you this time of year. Staying on track doesn’t mean you can’t indulge a…

The New Year is one of my favorite times of the year! I love the feeling of knowing a new leaf is turning, new opportunities are on their way. It also gives me a place to begin a new chapter and to clear out what’s lingering from the past year.  Physically Go through stuff at the house. Donate things that do not serve purpose in your life anymore. I have been collecting boxes of things to go to Goodwill and to sell all year, it’s time to get them out of the house! Take some down time to go through things…

Take a relaxing bath with seasonal scents. Light candles and pour a glass of wine and just take the time to think of all you are thankful for this year. Take a walk around your neighborhood and look at all the Christmas decorations and lights or bundle up and take a stroll at a local park. Sit and color or get crafty and make DIY Holiday cards for your loved ones. Have dinner with a close friend and catch up. Grab a cozy blanket and veg out and Netflix binge watching Holiday movies. Journal about what you love about the…

My first experience with Brussels Sprouts was not a pleasant one. They were tough and they were bitter. I vowed to never eat them again…that was when I was sixteen…seventeen years later and I love them. I remember the second time I tried Brussels Sprouts. My mom and I were at a local farm to table restaurant and they were a featured appetizer that night. They were cooked perfectly with crumbled bacon and a balsamic glaze over top. Since that day I look for them on menus now! Brussels Sprouts are a very particular food, packed with health benefits but a…

I sat at the table at the buffet looking around at my family. It was just my son, my parents and myself but it was perfect. The chatter stayed consistent even as we filled our mouths with food. It was wonderful, probably my favorite Thanksgiving. This year was a pretty tough year for me and my family. We were challenged with heartache, medical scares, and a lot of self-discovery this year. It was filled with many highs and many lows…but here we were all together, stronger and closer than we were when we entered the year. I felt proud and…

Good Morning Beautiful Friday! It’s super cold here but the sun is coming up and I’m looking forward to a wonderful day! I found myself in deeper thoughts this week, feeling a bit emotional and sensitive. It helped me see some important insight about myself and my life through it this week though. Some good, relaxing painting time last night and a great personal training appointment this morning is helping balance me out again and getting ready for a busy and fun weekend. Tonight I’ll be heading to a Decked Out Art Show – a super cool local charity event….

Minimalism is a way of life that I look up to. I love the freedom that comes with the simpler lifestyle but changing my lifestyle comes with a set of challenges. I’ve been working towards minimalism going on almost a year now and maybe I tried to take on too much change at one time. Learning not to expect too much from myself at one time has been a process. I have to recognize where I am in my life right now, my current environment and make adequate steps into the right direction, not expect it to all happen at one…

So for this month, I’ve decided to pull together a little list series to share what I’m thankful for each week. I find that when I spend more time thinking about the things I’m grateful for and less time dwelling on things that are not in my life, my heart feels lighter and I am more satisfied in the place that I am right now in my life. I wanted to spend this month highlighting some of my gratefulness that I have for the people, the things, and the experiences that I have in my life. What am I thankful…

Well I’ve reached the end of the challenge. I didn’t do too shabby…missed some days…but learned a lot in the process. 1.) I burnt out a bit. – I started out the month ahead of the game. I had my editorial calendar all planned out and I had a few posts written ahead of time but I slid and lost control of my time management. I found myself staying up late to write a blog post for the day and eventually it caught up to me. I am looking forward to going back to 3-4 posts a week in November. I…
