” The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but on building the new.” ~ Socrates
Blogging takes a lot of work, a lot of energy, time, creativity, and focus. It can be wearing but it has such a rewarding end result. I have been blogging for a little over six years now and I have had my ups and my downs. I have learned through trial and error and I have also had more growth in the past few months than I’ve ever expected. I’ve found that the key to my success is to keep my head up, stay positive, and to stay inspired.
Find what works for you but if blogging is your dream never give up. You will always be learning and growing and that is what makes blogging such a wonderful career, there is always room to grow and more to share!
Happy Blogging <3
I find Facebook is great for accountability you need to write regularly because people start expecting you to share your work
Hi Jessica,
I definitely agree!
This is great advice. I have found that to stay motivated I need to set short term goals. Like I want to publish 3 times a week or I want to gain 50 more followers on any given social media. It makes it easier to set short term goals so you get the feeling of achievement to keep you going.
Breaking it down into smaller goals definitely helps, remember to celebrate all of your wins too!
Thanks for this! It definitely helps to have others support and hold me up… sometimes blogging can feel too hard and I forget why I do it. Xo
Awesome post! I am tweeting it out to my followers because I know that I get writer’s block sometimes and it can be very tough. But in the end, passion always wins and I continue to write because I love it.
These are all great ways bloggers stay inspired! My favorite thing is by reading other blogs and interacting with other bloggers.
Having been working 12 hour days as a blogger I have been close to burning out several times lately, thanks for the tips to keep my fire going:)
we let our readers hold us accountable is something I am struggling with, need to set up a blogger survey. All your points though are so right. Especially number 2 for me.
I’m glad that they helped. #2 means a lot to me too, that is most of my drive of while I blog. <3 I also try to make a point to not compare myself to the success of other bloggers, we each grow in our own way and we each have a path.
This is great! I have been down recently about blogging because I was sick and got behind. I needed some motivation and ways to stay positive!
These are great tips! I’m generally positive and really motivated when it comes to blogging but sometimes I can become really unmotivated. I love reading over blogs to get me in the mood to finish all the blog posts in my drafts haha 🙂
Yes! I think, for me, I need to stop sometimes, step away from the computer, and reflect on what it is about blogging that I love. Sometimes I get so carried away with marketing it and doing the social media interaction with other bloggers that it becomes more obligatory and I get less time focusing on the content and the writing which I love.
Hi Divya,
I have felt that way too! I blog because I enjoy writing and helping people and it’s very easy to get stuck in the promotional side of it but I find taking a break and refocusing helps a lot!

I have been blogging on my current blog 6 years as well! It is definitely a time consuming thing, but I do love it! It is a therapeutic thing for me, writing.
Keeping positive in all that you do is important and sometimes can be the hardest part of the job!!
Great ideas! I’ve only been food blogging for 3 years this year, but I was a mom blogger when that was the in thing to do. I lost passion quickly that way. I really think you have to find something that you love to write about. Sure getting free stuff to review was great, but it wasn’t something that I could carry out the rest of my life with.
This is a great post – being a full time blogger can sometimes be so bloody draining! xx
Such an inspiring post. I know for me, I’m looking for ways to keep my writing fresh. Otherwise, I find I get bored with writing a post.
I am not a full time blogger, and my line of work is different than what I blog about…. but I am glad to read your post, as it reminds me to always take a step back and evaluate yourself on how you are doing.
Great, to the point post!! We are defininetly a unique breed and so many give it a try and opt out. But to stay in it and not give up a passion is crucial
It takes real dedication to be a blogger. You really have to be serious about it if you are going to succeed. It isn’t just a daily journal that you are writing, but a piece of people’s lives.
These are awesome ways to stay positive! I love that you included collaboration with other bloggers and tribes. It’s so important that we stay connected!
Loved reading this post, really great tips. I work full time and try to blog as often as I can because it’s my passion. I love writing, fashion, beauty and any form of art. My blog allows be to be creative and do what I love most, my day job doesn’t really allow me to let out all that creativity. Sometimes I do take breaks to think and meditate and just learn and write down ways I can grow my blog in a way that benefits my readers.
Definitely using short term goals have helped me keep my mind frame straight. Blogging needs to be something you need to work at.
Wow. This is absolutely inspiring! Love the truth in it 🙂 The last point is simply superb – that the excitement of meeting the goals fuels our drive!
