I hope you all had a wonderful holiday this past week!!! I spent mine in a bit of an unconventional way. Why many people were out and about visiting family and eating turkey and stuffing and mashed potatoes on Thursday, I stayed tucked in and behind my laptop busting away at my goals. My son had Thanksgiving at his Dad’s this year…don’t worry we celebrated a belated Thanksgiving together on Sunday <3. I’m still adjusting to this cold (it was really bitter cold earlier in the week) and this whole dark at 4pm thing so it’s made me want to just stay tucked in a good bit – kind of like a bear, I would really love to hibernate for the long Winter days! Wednesday night I fast-forwarded on a goal and launched a second blog – www.goinghygge.com – it’s a place for me to share my thoughts and stories about my journey to a more hygge embraced life. Then I spent Thursday, Friday, and Saturday finalizing some plans for 2019 – which I’m sooo excited about! I know I may sound like a crazy person but it’s all to set myself up for a 2019 where I can feel free and not so bogged down. It’s about building a good structure for my upcoming year!
I did of course get some good cooking in this week as well. After all, cooking helps warm up the house! I whipped up some pasta and peppers one afternoon which got me through a couple of days. And then Sunday was the big cooking day for our #BelatedThanksgiving…we made a chicken instead of the usual (I told you it was unconventional). My son was a bit turkeyed out and I’m not really a big turkey kind of gal. We did have all the classic fixings with it though – made from scratch mashed potatoes (with my little secret added parsnips) and stuffing and a must have staple, crescent rolls. It’s been a while since I’ve home cooked like that and it was a fabulous feeling! My son and I spent the evening curled up watching movies then to wrap up the weekend.
My son shares the same love for pure essential oils that I do so we kept the diffuser running during our movie night…featuring Young Living Essential Oil of the Week ‘Eucalyptus Blue’. I am so in love with this scent! It smells fresh and revitalizing and calming all at the same time. I love blending it with my Cedar wood oil in my diffuser…which side note, I don’t typically partake too often in Black Friday sales but Young Living’s sales were awesome – I’m talking 50% off a whole bunch of products. I upgraded my diffuser which I’ve been putting off for some time now, yay!!!
So as it seems I was a bit off track with my fitness journey this week – didn’t get much exercise in because I kept my butt pretty much planted behind my computer all week and well the pasta and the stuffing and the mashed potatoes…and cookie dough…isn’t exactly on plan. So this morning I had to pull myself back on track. I sat down with my DailyGreatness Training Journal and revisited my goals and planned my week out. I did fairly well today, started my day with a protein shake with Naked Nutrition (this stuff is pretty darn good and I’m pretty darn picky) and had shrimp tacos (portioned out) for dinner…it was those darn sugar cookies that kept me a little crooked though but back to business again tomorrow! Only 4 days until I start my 12ks till Christmas so I’m going to need the endurance!
