Just A Gal Being Thankful for The Sunshine In Her Life

You know those days that your lights are feeling a little dim and then someone steps up and shines their light on your path to help you along?

Well Nikki did that for me today!

We all have our off days and I have been so blessed with the people entering my life and being my “lean to” when I need a little push. It’s been that vulnerability I’ve been allowing to flow once in awhile that’s allowed me to make these bonds. I am ever so grateful for them.

It’s also what brought me to this beautiful nomination from Nikki. Nikki is an amazing and inspiring warrior that has held her head high to continue to raise above the battles brought to her in life. She writes with openness and boldness on her blog lovemetreatme.

Shout out and huge loving thank you to Nikki for nominating me for the Sunshine Blogger Award!

It’s these peeps that help me keep my positive outlook on life. It’s these folks that make me remember I’m not alone. Ain’t none of us alone!

Okay so Nikki gave me eleven questions to answer for y’all today…

If you could back to any time period, which would you choose and why?

The roaring 20’s. Flappers, prohibition… I just think it could be a fun time period. A little danger, a little adventure.

If you had to pick a mythological creature to be what would it be?

Okay, well I like to think I am a mythological creature – I’m a phoenix that’s raised from the ashes. I continue to get back up every time life takes a shot. And each time I gain power and wisdom. And more recently I’ve taken on the role of a unicorn (in a tribe of amazing other unicorns). I’m learning to embrace my uniqueness and my bright colors. So I guess if I had to pick one to be, I’d go with a dragon. Because dragons are awesome bluntly put. They’re gorgeous creatures, they fly – oh and did I mention they can breathe fire? Umm, yeah, I’m down.

Which musician do you really resonate with?

I’m going to go with Matisyahu. Though there are many musicians and songs I can meld with, this dude never let’s me down. He’s totally eclectic. Which if you know me even just a little bit, eclectic is the first word I use to describe myself. And his music speaks to me and soothes my soul and heart every time. Wanna pick me up – put on Matisyahu!

Do you have a routine you do before you begin to create? What is it?

Ironically, it’s tidy up. I have to have clear space to give my mind the room to go all out in it’s creative ways.

If you had to pick one actress/actor to play your life who would it be?

Emma Stone. This chick is awesome. I have a total girl crush. She would totally nail my personality and make my life movie amazing.

Your name is in the dictionary. What is written next to it to describe you?

I just had a similar conversation about this last week. A-Type personality. Like my picture would be there too. Oh, can I have two words? Eclectic would be there too surely.

Are you pro marijuana legalization, or against?

Are we having a political moment here? This won’t happen too often with me but I’ll give it to you (and I’ll be honest too).

I am pro legalization. Not because I want a bunch of people out there smoking pot but because I think it can be leveled with alcohol. There are studies out there that show positive medical properties that I agree with. Now there are some contingents I have with this. It needs to be managed. I haven’t done super deep reading but I’ve heard they’ve been doing fairly well with this in Colorado. Driving high shouldn’t be allowed. I don’t think peeps should be going to work high. There should be age regulations as there is with cigarettes and alcohol. I don’t think this is an addition to opiates. Just like we shouldn’t mix opiates with alcohol – same deal. So I’m pro legalization but not as a free for all.

Name one food you refuse to live without.

Cheese. Is there even an explanation needed for this?

We all have hobbies, which is your favorite?

Being eclectic this makes this decision tough. I have to give you two – painting and hiking.

Pick a color to describe your personality.

Purple. There are so many shades that I can fit into. It can be calming yet energetic. It invokes creativity. Purple represents power and royalty. It can be happiness but also can symbol frustration. It’s a color that can cover it all.

Name something you wish came naturally to you and why.

Relaxing and not worrying so darn much. I am the queen of worrying, of over-analyzing. I am the most self-critical person most people meet. It can be tiring.
