Love can be expressed in so many forms. Love is an art in itself. Love can be poetry, Love can be color, Love can be music.  Love can be a slight glance or a brush of a hand.  Tonight I want to showcase some of my favorite expressions of love through art.  Psyche Revived by Cupid’s Kiss, Antonio CanovaThe passion shines from this statue. The sculpture represents the moment after Cupid has awakened Psyche with a kiss. The sculpture is displayed at the Musée du Louvre in Paris. The Birth of Venus…

We’ve all been there, as an artist, as a writer, as a blogger…creative block sometimes gets us. I get it at least once every few months. I know there’s awesome things there waiting to burst out but I can’t get the door to open. So I kick into gear on busting down that wall and getting those creative juices flowing again!  1. Read – Dive into a fantasy novel, drift off into a good story. 2. Revisit your work – Look at old paintings, read old blog posts, review & edit the novel you’ve been working on. 3. Meditate. 4….

“Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, making mistakes, and having fun.” ~ Mary Lou Cook Where would art be if we didn’t have artists that pushed the limits and broke some rules?  I have a secret love for street art and graffiti. It takes some gust and some big inspirations to create art like that, big scale and bold colors up for the whole world to see.    From a simple smiley face to a city poetry garden to a grand message, these pieces of art are one of a kind and hold their ground. Go explore, there is…

Creating art is a therapy for me…when I pick up a paintbrush or open my sketchbook I immediately feel a wave of calmness enter me. The stress of the world melts away. I become the center of the balance beam.  “Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.” ~ Thomas Merton It frees me. It allows stubborn emotions to flow out of me, whether it is trauma or joy, the feelings can pour freely from my soul, leaving my heart and my mind clear.  “Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints…

So many of us are out to grab the world by the horns this year, myself included. I’m currently finishing up You Are A Badass: How To Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life by Jen Sincero which has given me some wonderful revelations, especially the chapters about Fear and Money. I just ordered Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear by Elizabeth Gilbert which I’m super psyched to get started on, especially after listening to her TED Talks Podcast. I’ve said before that I really feel 2017 has a lot of magic to give this year and I am excited to…

I had it on my bucket list last year to paint a self portrait. I took it off my bucket list this year. Though I haven’t sat down in front of the mirror and painted a mere image of myself, I have painted many self portraits. Each piece of my artwork also has a piece of me in them. A reflection of who I am, how I feel, how I see. Artwork is an expression of ourselves, in each piece a part of our individuality is captured. Therefore I will always be painting a self portrait in some way. In…

“Angel of Strength” She is always here with me, walking beside me and pulling me up when I need her. She helps me see beauty in every moment, even in painful ones. As I get ready to enter into the New Year, I sit and think of the blessings that came out of 2016, the challenges that made me tougher, and the joys that made me see clearer, and the new beautiful friendships I have acquired. I can feel the magic of 2017 creeping in my bones and am filled with enthusiasm to jump into the new year, a year…

Being an artist, I find that I have so many sides, I come with a naturally eclectic personality and tastes for many things, with a grand sense of adventure. I  express how I see myself and my world through my artwork and through my style. Artists have free spirits and find love and pain in so many things, some of us see the world through a wide array of color, some of us see several shades of black and white. We can be amazingly easy to shop for or we can be stubbornly hard to shop for. Each artist is…

A friend of mine that I chat art with quite often recently pointed out to me the other day that I seem to not like to illustrate faces. My initial response was yeah, I’m not very good at faces so I avoid them…but after pondering like I do (being a Virgo naturally makes me overthink everything! Sometimes this can have it’s advantages though leading to deeper meanings) I realized it goes much deeper than just not being good at drawing faces. That was a superficial response. I could take the time and the practice to develop my talent in illustrating…
