Earlier this week I wrote about the anxiety I was feeling and how much it had been kicking my butt and overwhelming my brain. This week I made it a goal to focus on myself and my goals, after all it is a new month and for me that always presents itself as a new beginning. It has made a huge difference in my thought patterns with putting myself back in focus. So this week I made it all about me. It was tough at first because I felt selfish and it felt out of character for me a little….

I got into the blogging world several years back when I launched a crafting blog. Then I migrated to a foodie blog, and finally finding my home in launching Do Five Things A Day in 2010. When I started Do Five Things A Day I was going through a bit of a rough patch in life. I was struggling greatly with my Rheumatoid Arthritis on top of other life challenges and found myself many days with a lack of motivation and energy to make it through my day. I started taking a step back and focused on slowing down, taking…

It can be a challenge to keep the pups entertained when you have so much going on…though I’d love to spend my whole days running around, throwing the ball or playing tug-of-war with my pups I know that’s just not my option most days. Don’t get me wrong, I definitely sneak in some play time throughout the day but there are the down times I need to get some time behind the computer screen so keeping the pups entertained on those counts is a must.  My pup Lucy has a gluten-allergy which surprisingly I learned that most dog treats…

I see a lot of posts about minimalism that focus on owning less stuff and de-cluttering, this isn’t what minimalism is about for me. For me, minimalism is more emotional than functional. Minimalism is about learning to make room for things that have meaning to my life, things that bring value and joy to me, and about letting go of the things that don’t. It’s about clearing space for better things in my life, allowing space for things to grow. It’s about following my heart and soul’s desire to have more in life, more than just stuff, things bigger and…

Last year I gave up all meat for the six weeks of lent – which resulted in me replacing it with carbs – I wasn’t as disciplined as I should have been and I didn’t get what I wanted out of Lent last year other than proving to myself I could not eat meat for six weeks. This year I want to practice in a way that is truly meaningful and purposeful to me and to my life. I’ve been feeling rather in a bit of a rut the past couple of weeks and Lent couldn’t have come at a…

So many times the conversation comes up on whether I am an introvert or extrovert, I identify with both. Ambivert: a person whose personality has a balance of extrovert and introvert features.  Being an ambivert means: 1. I’m not uncomfortable at social events but I’ll get tired and need alone time to recharge. 2. I’m more comfortable meeting new people and experiencing new places with my friends there. 3. I will adjust my energy level to accommodate my company. 4. I can work in a group but I also like to complete some tasks individually. 5. Some people think I’m…

I had it on my bucket list last year to paint a self portrait. I took it off my bucket list this year. Though I haven’t sat down in front of the mirror and painted a mere image of myself, I have painted many self portraits. Each piece of my artwork also has a piece of me in them. A reflection of who I am, how I feel, how I see. Artwork is an expression of ourselves, in each piece a part of our individuality is captured. Therefore I will always be painting a self portrait in some way. In…

During my 2017 Goals & Intentions Planning, I sat and revisited my Bucket List…this has been growing and transforming over the years realigning me with what I feel is a purpose in my life.  Let’s start by taking a look at what I checked off at my 2016 Bucket List: Make a bucket list. Have some paintings in an art show (woot, was in three this year!), paint a self-portrait…okay so I didn’t do too much checking off in 2016 but I did still have some amazing other adventures – rode in a bi-plane, went to Chincoteague, VA, smashed a car (like in a…
