This past week has had many ups and downs… My Grandmother passed away this past Wednesday and it has been very hard on my family. This evening I must break the news to my son when he returns from being at his Dad’s house…this I am not looking forward to at all. My Grandmother was, and will always remain in our hearts, an extraordinary woman. This coming Wednesday we will celebrate her life and the many ways she had touched our lives. I will read a poem I had written about her at the service that captures her in so…

These past two weeks have roared by… The beach was wonderful. Chincoteague, Virginia is a beautiful place! It has a mix of everything which is perfect for our family – hiking, sun and sand time, the ponies, seashell collecting, crabbing and surf fishing, and the pool at the hotel was great for some downtime. It had that nostalgic beach theme but without all the crowd and mess like at Ocean City. This is a highly recommended vacation spot, we will definitely go back again – if not a move to there in the future, hmm maybe a beach cottage for…

As I get ready to head to the beach for a long weekend, I leave you with this, ” May you always have a shell in your pocket and sand between your toes” and “God so loved the world, he gave us the beach”. To Chincoteague, VA we go…

…when I was 19… ~ I wouldn’t have gotten married. It wasn’t right for me, we weren’t right for each other. ~ I would have completed college, and majored in Psychology. ~ I would have exercised more, and kept up with it! ~ I would have saved my money. ~ I would have quit smoking then… and not eight years later. ~ I would have spent more time with my family and less time with the friends I no longer have. “Don’t waste your time on people who don’t spend time on you.” ~ I would have told my family I love…

Ever feel like your life is a huge Nascar Race? We spend our younger years yearning to grow up and once we become adults all we want is the simplicity of childhood. We take one second to breathe and realize that a whole year, or ten years, has passed. Slow down, savor the moments, take time to learn from mistakes, and take time to love life and all its lessons. This year I am turning 30 and when I look back over the last ten years I see a lot has happened but I haven’t accomplished the things I wanted…

In 1984, President Ronald Reagan declared July to be National Ice Cream Month (www.idfa.org)… which is a good thing because I’ve been eating a lot of ice cream this past weekend! And to celebrate some businesses are offering free treats!!! Check out this link… http://hip2save.com/2013/07/19/national-ice-cream-day-freebies-deals-2/ Some interesting facts about eating ice cream… Americans are the #1 consumers of ice cream worldwide, eating on average 20 quarts a year! New Zealand comes in at #2. About 9% of all milk produced by US Dairy Farmers is used to make ice cream. Vanilla is the most popular flavor, with chocolate coming in…

The past week has definitely carried its challenges. I’ve been hanging in there though repeating the mantra, “Things are going to be okay, they will get better. I am a strong woman and I will make it through. I am a good person; loving and caring; and I’m doing what I need to do. It will get better, I will figure it out. Everything will be okay.” And then I pray… I pray for the Lord to help others and to save them. And I pray for him to give me strength and patience to see things through and to…

At the beginning of this week I vowed to find inspiration every day. Since then I search, starting as soon as I wake up, to almost “pick” out what my inspiration will be. The thing about inspiration is sure you can develop it within yourself but the truest ones come by surprise. The challenge I set for myself was to help me learn to see everything in a positive light and to always find something special in each day. I continued through my day, soon losing focus of “picking” my daily inspiration. I spent the first part of my…
