5 Novels to Add to Your Beach Bag

Warm months are upon us finally! Summer days are the best to curl up in a sunny corner with a great book to take us on a wonderful adventure. Here’s five books to add to your reading list for this summer:  Reading List – Novels

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi – No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal, but The Reestablishment has plans for her. Plans to use her as a weapon. But Juliette has plans of her own. After a lifetime without freedom, she’s finally discovering a strength to fight back for the very first time—and to find a future with the one boy she thought she’d lost forever.

In this electrifying debut, Tahereh Mafi presents a riveting dystopian world, a thrilling superhero story, and an unforgettable heroine.

I Let You Go by Clare MacKintosh – The next blockbuster thriller for those who loved The Girl on the Train and Gone Girl…“a finely crafted novel with a killer twist.”(#1 New York Times bestselling author Paula Hawkins).
On a rainy afternoon, a mother’s life is shattered as her son slips from her grip and runs into the street…
I Let You Go follows Jenna Gray as she moves to a ramshackle cottage on the remote Welsh coast, trying to escape the memory of the car accident that plays again and again in her mind and desperate to heal from the loss of her child and the rest of her painful past.

Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson –  The New York Times bestselling story of a friendship frozen between life and death.

Lia and Cassie are best friends, wintergirls frozen in fragile bodies, competitors in a deadly contest to see who can be the thinnest. But then Cassie suffers the ultimate loss—her life—and Lia is left behind, haunted by her friend’s memory and racked with guilt for not being able to help save her. In her most powerfully moving novel since Speak, award-winning author Laurie Halse Anderson explores Lia’s struggle, her painful path to recovery, and her desperate attempts to hold on to the most important thing of all: hope.

Hidden Bodies by Caroline Kepners – “Delicious and insane…The plot may be twisty and scintillating, but its Kepnes’ wit and style that keep you coming back.” —Lena Dunham

Joe Goldberg is no stranger to hiding bodies. In the past ten years, this thirty-something has buried four of them, collateral damage in his quest for love. Now he’s heading west to Los Angeles, the city of second chances, determined to put his past behind him.

The Andalucian Friend by Alexander Soderberg – A Monumental International Crime Thriller That Brad Thor Calls “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo meets The Sopranos.”

Enemies Are Everywhere

When Sophie Brinkmann—nurse, widow, single mother—meets Hector Guzman, her life is uneventful. She likes his quiet charm and easy smile; she likes the way he welcomes her into his family. She quickly learns, though, that his smooth façade masks something much more sinister.

Growing in 2017: Reading List for Personal Development

So many of us are out to grab the world by the horns this year, myself included. I’m currently finishing up You Are A Badass: How To Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life by Jen Sincero which has given me some wonderful revelations, especially the chapters about Fear and Money. I just ordered Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear by Elizabeth Gilbert which I’m super psyched to get started on, especially after listening to her TED Talks Podcast. I’ve said before that I really feel 2017 has a lot of magic to give this year and I am excited to be moving forward, at a really fast pace too. My blog is growing faster than I imagined, I have many business projects on the horizon, and overall I just feel like I am growing into this incredible role in my life, a role of leadership and inspiration, and it feels amazing! I know though, with all that in mind, that it is my responsibility to take advantage of the opportunities being presented to me and to make things happen.

Some of my (additional to the above) top books to assist in my growth this year and to keep me motivated and inspired:

Adventures For Your Soul: 21 Ways to Transform Your Habits And Reach Your Full Potential by Shannon Kaiser

Make It Happen: Surrender Your Fear, Take The Leap, Live On Purpose by Lara Casey

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
